Shelbyville High School

The Shelbyville HS Cross Country teams finished strong at their first home meet of the year this morning at Blue River. Girls finished 8th (Gold Division), 2 spots higher than last year. Boys finished 9th, 3 spots higher than last year We had 6 all-time PRs (Kendryk Pike, Eden Ortega, Kat Seal, Haylee Barnes, Diana Gasca and Belle Orem) and dropped a ton of time from this meet last year. Individually, Shia Veach had another very strong race, finishing 5th (16:21) - a 21 sec course best. Logan Reinhart finished 24th (17:22), only 2 sec shy of his all-time PR from last weekend. Anderson Mollenkopf, Kendryk Pike and Eden Ortega also scored for the Bears. In the Girls' race, America Leon-Torres finished 17th (20:49, just shy of a ribbon). Macey Robbins finished 29th (21:33). Aerin Garcia-Santiago, Kat Seal, and Avery Keller also scored for the Bears. After awards, we celebrated our 5 seniors with a family/team lunch. Seniors: Logan Reinart, Kenneth Wright, Diana Gasca, Aerin Garcia-Santiago and Avery Keller (see picture) Next up, we will return to our home course at Blue River for the HHC Championship race on 9/27!
